Good afternoon. This is the first entry in the Preservation Society of Asheville and Buncombe County's blog to inform our community about the work to save the historic Ivy Building, the last remaining historic building from the Saint Genevieve of the Pines original campus.

Oh, yes. This building requires our attention and support. I learned that the American National anthem is not the same as the Canadian in this building shortly after my family moved here from the Northland. For other reasons, too, but Preservation is personal!

Look Up Asheville: an Architectural Journey
Too much of the St. Genevieve-Gibbons Hall campus has fallen to the wrecking ball, and this gymnasium deserves to be saved. Asheville, with fits and starts, has a good reputation for saving beautiful architecture - with some glaring exceptions - and this structure is a critical link in its development history.
